The history of our industry is not necessarily specialized approaches being gobbled up by general approaches. But it's as much specialized approaches growing towards generality.

The frontier of tech will always have areas that require specialized solutions to make the numbers work. There is a cost to generality.

This time is no different. We'll see specialization eaten by the growing frontier models. And we'll see new model modalities grow more general and more powerful.
